CST is here…so relax!!

This week, we are taking the CST (California Standards Test).  Students have been working hard all year long.  As your child comes home this week, make sure they get plenty of rest, relaxation, and rewards.  A great reward we are enjoying in class is ART!  Ask your child to draw with you.

Yesterday we looked at this link:  http://www.wikihow.com/Draw-a-Face  and we all tried drawing a face.  Be sure to read the steps in the little paragraphs on the left.  They really helped things come together.

Um….time has been flying by…

Clearly, our class page has been highly neglected.  :-( I am the only one to blame.

I shall try to regain some momentum and post more frequently….

If you’re logging on tonight and are interested in seeing what we’ll be doing in math tomorrow:

Check out this link above.  It’s a lesson about Polygons…yup, geometry is here!  :-)   Yay!!  Shapes and solids are cool.

Mr. Leo is COOL!

Our artist in residence visited today for our 3rd visit. We have only 3 left. Today we worked on shifting 2-D shapes into 3-D shapes. We also worked on tracing the outside line of a shape. Later, we added details by including inside lines.

Overarching of all Mr. Leo is inspiring us to be CONFIDENT artists, making decisions and if a “mistake” happens — who cares? Keep moving and FINISH THE RACE!!!

Great Math Poems Online…answer the riddle at the end to get to the next poem!

Try showing your stuff by practicing your 3′s times tables here. Remember, you can add together a double of a factor and a 1 times the factor to equal a 3 times…for example: 3×7 is the same as 2×7 + 1×7. http://mathstory.com/numberthiefstory3/numberthiefstory3-1.aspx

Wish to practice your 9′s times tables…and be entertained with some fancy rhyming (and there are a slew of synonyms in the first of the poems!)…
